ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

This session invites the audience into the world of J. S. Bach’s keyboard concertos, exploring how performers can bring life to the music beyond the written notes. Centering on the slow movements of BWV 1056 and BWV 1058, it reflects on articulation as a key expressive tool in Baroque performance, where music was understood as a form of speech. Drawing on historical treatises, source comparisons, and performance experiments on both piano and harpsichord, the program offers insights into rhetorical phrasing and stylistic nuance. It is a journey into Bach’s sound world, where imagination and historical awareness meet in shaping meaning through sound.
