ARTISTRY

As a pianist and chamber musician, Mingshanwang has performed in Hungary, Singapore, and Indonesia. Her love for chamber music and harpsichord has influenced her evolving approach to concert programming. Her performances have received several awards, including from the Singapore International Festival of Music Competition, Asian Youth Music Competition (Piano Duo), UPH National Piano Competition, and the Hong Kong-Asia International Piano Competition.

Her artistic and academic interests intersect in her current project on articulation in J. S. Bach’s keyboard concertos, exploring their expressive possibilities on piano and harpsichord. Earlier, she studied the openings and endings of Bach’s keyboard suites for her undergraduate thesis under the guidance of Dr. Rebecca Kan. She has also written program notes for Jakarta Sinfonietta.

Performing music is a lifelong craft & journey in discovering, listening, and giving voice to what lies in the sound

TEACHING

Fostering the development of the next generation is at the heart of her teaching

Her teaching aspires to guide students toward developing a high level of pianistic skill, while nurturing their love of music and the seeds of artistry, musicianship, and curiosity to inspire lifelong growth. Believing that performing is an essential part of music learning, Mingshanwang has curated recital opportunities for aspiring musicians, creating spaces for their growth. She spearheaded concert series at her alma mater and provided performing opportunities for her students. Her students have received several prizes in competitions and festivals.

She has also been invited to give lecture-recitals, masterclasses, adjudicate competition in Singapore, and conduct webinar for audiences in Indonesia. Having taught students from diverse cultural backgrounds and nationalities, she remains curious and attentive to the unique perspectives each learner brings.
